Playstation 3 Lanciata in Giappone

In rete c'è stata una vera e propria esplosione di news per quanto riguarda Playstation 3, la nuova console di Sony, a coincidere con il debutto del dispositivo sul mercato giapponese, avvenuto l'11 Novembre.

Il lancio in Giappone. Interminabili code si sono create davanti ai principali negozi di Tokyo e delle grandi città, con gli appassionati più motivati e hardcore gamer che hanno preso il loro posto nella ressa fin dal pomeriggio del giorno 10 Novembre. Ufficialmente Sony aveva già annunciato PS3 avrebbe debuttato in Giappone solo in un numero estremamente limitato di unità: appena 100.000 entro Novembre. Secondo alcune indiscrezioni questa cifra era destinata a scendere ulteriormente di 20.000 unità. Il "tutto esaurito" è stato raggiunto in poche ore (alle 8.00 di mattina) con code "piene" (che includevano un numero di persone sufficiente per terminare le scorte) già dalla sera precedente.

Come segnalato da everyeye.it, Sony ha già rilasciato i primi dati di vendita: PS3 20GB: 32.000, PS3 60GB: 51.000. per un totale di 83.000 unità. Su Gamespot sono stati pubblicati alcune informazioni sul lancio del dispositivo e alcuni screenshot delle code davanti ai principali store giapponesi. Il risultato? PS3 è già in vendita sui siti di aste a prezzi enormemente maggiorati rispetto a quello retail: il modello a 60 GB (prezzo retail medio 59,800 yen) si trova in vendita a circa 90,000 yen sul sito Yahoo Japan Auction, il modello a 20GB (49,980 yen) viene rivenduto a 70,000 yen.

Sony prevede di rilasciare sul mercato 100,000 unità ogni settimana a partire da questa data di lancio, raggiungendo quindi le 400,000 unità "shipped" per la data di lancio del rivale Nintendo Wii, altro debuttante (anch'esso previsto in 400.000 unità ma già al lancio, 19 Novembre in US, 2 Dicembre in Giappone e 8 Dicembre in Europa).

Lancio internazionale. PS3 debutterà negli Stati Uniti il 17 Novembre prossimo (499 dollari USD) mentre in Europa non sarà lanciata prima di Marzo 2007 (ufficialmente a causa di problemi di produzione della componentistica del lettore Blu-ray integrato nella console che hanno ridotto le disponibilità di unità della per un lancio che inizialmente doveva essere "globale").

Il pacchetto, preview, coverage. Engadget ha pubblicato numerosi screenshot del pacchetto retail che ha debuttato nei negozi giapponesi. Precedentemente, sempre Engadget, aveva pubblicato screenshot e un video di anteprima del dispositivo e dell'esperienza di gaming.

Di ieri è invece la pubblicazione del link di un video in 4 parti (via YouTube) che descrive lo smontaggio "completo" del dispositivo (controller SIXAXIS compreso). Anche Gizmodo ha pubblicato in questi giorni un ampio coverage su PS3: Unboxing (con Nintendo Wii), Media Playback, Charge Cable PS3 vs Xbox 360, Extensive PS3 Interface Walkthrough, HTML PS3 Interface, PS3 e Retrocompatibilità, e molto altro comprese alcune informazioni sulla eccessiva "delicatezza" del rivestimento del dispositivo. Ps3.qj.net, tra i vari articoli dedicati, ha pubblicato due interessanti comparative che mettono a confronto i giochi Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 e Tony Hawk Project 8 su PS3 e Xbox 360. Altri articoli di estremo interesse: Come installare una altro sistema operativo su PS3 e Kernel Patch e documentazione per "PS3 Linux".

Segnaliamo infine che Sony ha già rilasciato la nuova versione 1.10 del firmware di PS3 sul sito ufficiale giapponese della console (disponibile anche in versione US una settimana prima del lancio del prodotto in questo mercato). Il nuovo firmware, che ufficialmente introduce novità funzionali e migliora la sicurezza del dispositivo, include importanti modifiche per il supporto del PLAYSTATION Network e la comunicazione con i dispositivi PSP. L'articolo dedicato di Ps3.qj.net include anche interessanti informazioni su quella che sarà la "Open Platform" di PS3 e sulle capacità di eseguire software third-party sul dispositivo.
